Thistle Bloomsbury Hotel
Bloomsbury is London’s literary heartland. Once home to the British Library, it’s long been a magnet for writers and poets, including Charles Dickens, WB Yeats and, most famously Virginia Woolf, who’s controversial ‘Bloomsbury Set’ scandalised society in the 1920’s. One of its members was EM Forster, who wrote part of A Room with a View while living at The Kingsley Hotel – the original name of Thistle Bloomsbury.
In keeping with our commitment to upgrading the quality of our product, Thistle Bloomsbury is undergoing a £9.5 million refurbishment. From August 2008 until Spring 2009 we are improving the property which includes a total refurbishment including all bedrooms, meeting rooms and public areas, including the lobby bar and restaurant. The end result will be a totally transformed property ready to meet with the future demands of both the business and leisure traveller. To ensure disruption during your stay with us is kept to a minimum, work will not be carried out earlier than 8am or later than 8pm. However, the room rates have been discounted to reflect any disruption you may experience to the hotel's services, even though we will strive to keep this to a minimum throughout your stay and the refurbishment of the property.
With 138 bedrooms, including 65 executive rooms, which blend contemporary comforts with Edwardian charm, Thistle Bloomsbury is an ideal base from which to enjoy some of London’s best attractions. The British Museum is just 200 yards away; Covent Garden, Oxford Street and the West End theatres are within easy walking distance, and there’s parking nearby if you bring the car. And if you’re looking to escape from the tyrannies of the phone and the inbox, our seven meeting rooms, of which the largest seats 100 theatre-style, provide a quiet, comfortable environment for all kinds of business meetings and functions.
Whether you’re with us for work or pleasure, a stay at Thistle Bloomsbury is definitely something to write home about.
Please note that the Hotel is commencing a major refurbishment project which is scheduled for completion in June 2009, during this period the hotel will go under many positive changes.
